Hokie Analytics enters the fray

This is Hokie Analytics, a publication featuring data-driven deep dives on all things Virginia Tech football. From previews and post-game analyses to evaluations of talent, performance, and roster depth, Hokie Analytics will help readers understand not only the what, but, more importantly, the why and how of Virginia Tech football. For example:

• Why might this week’s game go completely off narrative?

• Why did the Hokies blow out or barely defeat Team X?

• How has Tech’s talent level changed through the years, and how, specifically has that impacted results on the field?

• How are Virginia Tech’s players performing compared to their talent level, and how does that compare to other teams?

• Why do the coaches play some second stringers on a regular basis while predominantly sitting others?

To run these and many other analyses, I’ll be tapping into some of richest, cleanest, and most complete college football datasets currently available, as well as building my own. It should be a fun and informative ride. Stay tuned, and let’s go Hokies!
